Women's Professional Soccer

Just a ridiculous amount of American soccer news flooding my inbox this week and most of it is good.
MLS Expansion - Vancouver, which was announced today, and Portland later this week. DC Stadium - The soap opera continues
WPS Expansion - Philly is going to be a great franchise.

Seattle's sold out inaugural game - The whole Sounders success is the best story in MLS history.

MLS opening weekend - This seems really early, but can't wait to see if Toronto has really improved that much and if the entire Western Conference is really worse than the entire Eastern Conference.

WPS teams trimming rosters - With only seven teams, there are going to be some very good players in the W-League this year.

Michael Bradley finds his scoring boots - And he's helping save Mönchengladbach's season.

Soccer and Twitter, a match made in heaven - Only 15 years ago, it was nearly impossible to find out ANY information about soccer anywhere, now in the new age of instant information, Twitter is pushing out incredible amounts of soccer information constantly.

Red Stars first pre-season game vs. another WPS team. Follow my Twitter updates at RedStarsCEO for lineups and game updates.

Have a great rest of the week and i hope to see everyone at the IYSA Expo this Saturday in Schaumburg.

Hello Emilie. Thank you for your comment. i think FIFA would like MLS to stop at 18 teams, but they will not. MLS Commissioner Don Garber has already said MLS will add two more teams in 2012 to go to 20 teams. If there is more money to be made by expanding - and there is - they will expand more. 24 teams eventually would not surprise me. The more teams there are, the the better the chance for Montreal to be in MLS.

Expansion of MLS will take away good USL1 cities like Portland, Vancouver and Seattle. But there will always be cities for second division soccer. The quality of ownership may not be as good, but there will always be second division soccer in North America. It doesn't take as much money to own a team in USL1, so there are many more people who can own a USL1 team than an MLS team.

I wish you would be a Red Stars fan instead of a Los Angeles fan. :-(

Bonjour Emilie.

Yes Emilie, i think Vancouver will be a successful MLS market. i hope it will have a WPS team some day, too. i also think Montreal will have an MLS team some day.
