For those of us who are or have played a sport in high school or even walked through a typical locker room like that have all seen the inspirational posters. Whenever I read those I did one of three things: laughed in my head, rolled my eyes, or was actually inspired to be better at whatever I was doing at that time. Most famous people who have accomplished great things have famous quotes from athletes to inventors. They all have one thing in common though, which is they overcame adversity to achieve what they wanted. I try to write a new quote on my page every week, here are some that I liked the most. Judge for yourself: judge, laugh, roll your eyes, ect.
"The highest reward for a person's toil is not what they get for it, but what they become by it."
~John Ruskin: British art critic, social thinker, artist, poet, and author
"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure...than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."
~Theodore Roosevelt: Leader of the Republican and Progressive Parties, Governor of New York, professional historian, naturalist, explorer, hunter, author and soldier, 26th President of the United States
"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit."
~Aristotle: Greek Philosopher, student of Plato, teacher of Alexander The Great
"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds."
~Albert Einstein: Theoretical physicist
"We are like tea bags- we do not know our strength until we're in hot water."
~Sister Busche: n/a (I looked but could not find any information on her)
"I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure, which is - try to please everybody."
~Herbert Bayard Swope: Editor and journalist (born in St. Louis)
"Don't stop believin"
~Journey
