Hello.
As Player Services Manager for the Chicago Red Stars, one of my duties is to assist the players with various things that relate to them moving into market (or into another country altogether for some): getting settled, adjusted, and retrieving skinny lattes (extra hot).
Ok just kidding. About the adjustment part. I let them handle that on their own. I studied business, not psychology, people.
It's that time of year where we gather together, play Apples to Apples (I lost viciously, my humor just isn't universal apparently), and enjoy holiday karaoke, even though Pat & David are the only ones that sing (Asst Coach Denise would belt out for some Joan Jett, but she's gone back to the Jersey Shore for the holidazzle).
It's also the time of year where I am playing Where's Waldo. Except apartments are the Waldos. Get it? Good.
What I'm saying is that I could certainly use your help. You're probably reading this (is anybody reading this actually?) saying to yourself... how could I help?
Well, anybody in and around the Red Stars probably said that at one point and look at us now!
Players need short term housing during our season from March - September - ish. Open to any and all opportunities within a budget of course. We do want to be sustainable for a long time to come, after all! I'm referring to apartments of some sort here.
And now I'm referring to homestays. Some players prefer to live in a family situation. If you or anyone you know might be interested in this sort of thing, please contact me and I can tell you more about it.
I know many of you have reservations about such a thing, and what does it mean, will I have to give up my cat? sell my children? create special meals daily at certain times? yes, no and no. i mean no no and no!
But let's chat about it, huh?
Some nice things (aka requirements) are to have a room all for the player to have to herself. Preferably her own bathroom, or at least multiples for one family. A separate entrance is a magic perk. Parking space is usually necessary. Oh, and proximity to Toyota Park is useful. Please don't contact me if you live in Iowa, Wisconsin or anywhere tropical. We don't want to spoil our players like that.
And homestays are provided out of the goodness of kind people's hearts who are willing to bring a player into their home and be a supreme supporter of the Red Stars. Actually, you don't have to be a fan of the Red Stars at all, but what a waste it would be to not use all those free tickets we're gonna give you! And besides, you'd wanna come support your newly temporary adopted pet, er player, right?
We have had a great group of people providing these options last year, and we simply want to expand upon that list.
So don't sit there and wait... just call me. I don't bite, kick or harm insects. I'm nice with children (most of the time) and I eat vegetables. So you'd be doing me a kind service as well!
And don't be afraid to call because it's the holidays. I actually chose a job in sports which means I only get to pick 2 holidays per year to spend with my family. Haha, my mom would kill me. Only joking! But I will be accessible all holiday and into the New Year, although I can't be responsible for our conversation if you call me on December 31st or January 1st (any time really).
So please don't hesitate to contact me by any of the below:
