Excuse the corny title XD i thought it was cute.
Anyways...
So Tuesday night was a somewhat normal day in the human world. School in the morn, soccer in the noon, dinner at night... ya' know the drill. But in the WPS world, Tuesday meant something completely different. So on that day, the Atlanta beat and the Philly Indys (i think that is a really good nickname dontcha' think?) got to pick some world class, tippy top, hippy hop, awesome, international players. The one who probably cought my eye the second most (because the first person to catch my eye was mamayy yamaguchayy) was Umea's Ramona Bachmann.
Have i ever heard of this player before? no... never in my life (probably becasue i only have time to follow the US soccer these days, but idk. not a big overseas fan i guess)
So exactly why has her name caught my eye the most?
I think it's pretty obvious knowing that my name is actually Ramona (mona sounds better, admit it) and i don't really come across anyone that has the same name as me, well in my area for that matter.
so to make this blog somewhat significant, here are some facts about Bachmann and how some of them relate to me...
-She's a Forward (i'm a middy forward (preferably mid)... i switch from time to time)
-her birthday is December 25 (awesome!)
-she was the rising star for Sweden's Umea after star, Marta, signed with the Sol
-she's 18 (we were both born in the 90s :) )
-Bachmann is a member of the Switzerland U20s
-she is sponsored by PUMA (i love puma!!)
ohkay i can't really find much facts. Assuming she didn't go to college to pursue soccer (like many other atheletes).
So yea, maybe one day i'll meet Ramona (the other mona)... Hopefully she'll remember me in someway when i do come across her presence at a game... after Sky Blue beats atlanta of course :)
Anyways, i do think i will become a fan of Mami Yamaguchi. Her name sitll remains in my mind because i was listening to the All-Star game (i turned away my head fora couple minutes) and i heard the last name of Yamaguchi. I know there are probably a bagillion people with this last name, but i think it really sticks in my mind because of the professional skater, Kristi Yamaguchi. I used to be a very avid Figure Skating fan (in fact, i wanted to becomea pro skater when i was younger. i took skating lessons and all that jazz). Michelle Kwan was my idol at the time (well who didn't love Kwan?) I do remember Mami being a player with much energy. I knew she was gonna be big and somehow find her way to the WPS -- i knew it from the first time i saw her at the All-Star game.
so some random facts about Mami Yamaguchi and some related to me...
-Her birthday is August 13
-shes from Japan (we're both asian)
-she went to florida state
-she's been part of the J(apan)NT since u15
-she palys for Umea (or used to)
-Yamaguchi plays midfield (so do i!!)
I am so excited to see these two players play in the WPS, though they both play for Atlanta. It's so thrilling to see more Europeans join the league... but Sky Blue is gonna crush Atlanta this year, no doubt about it :)
oh and for my ugly side, i'm sick of spammers. WPS please take them off!! thanks :)
