Breakin' the Ice and Replacing the fishes

(odd title, i know)
Yes, it's official. The leading scorer in the Beijing olympics has retired with 109 caps and 4 goals in the olympics along with two olympic medals and the pride to have played on the Boston Breakers. I got a text in school today about it and i was in a gape for a couple of moments. Funny thing cause the first person i told was the dude next to my locker and he replied, "Who is that?" Anyways, it was quite a shock for me because i personally didn't see it coming.

But then i thought to myself, what is happening to the Breakers?

Like Arod was traded the the Independence (though it was totally seen coming), Mittsy too went to the Independence (though that wasn't very suprising either), Ang retired, something that i thought was completely spontaneous, especially with the US WNT friendly in Germany...What's up with this?

and speaking of the Independence, i have only heard of trades that are going to them. The Atlanta Beat has seemed to somewhat died down a bit, like it's tempo has gotten a little slower. (haha tempo, beat, get it?) I would like to see some trading going on. I have some bizarre feeling that Sky Blue or the Independence will sign Carli Lloyd, or even the Beat. I would see the Beat signing Lloyd actually because they havn't signed anyone "special" yet, or a big name in other words.

So is the ice getting thinner for the Breakers?
well, they came out so big in the beginning of the inaugs season, but now, it's kinda hard to tell with the loss of its two US National team players how well the team will do in 2010. Well atleast they still have Kristine Lilly!

so for the 'Replacing the Fishes' part. ( i know odd title, but i couldn't really think of another one)

When i said that, i was referring to the US Women's Nation Team.

We are probably all aware with the fact that the WNT will be playing against the Ranked 2 euro winning power house of germany. Rapinoe recently got surgery (WHY?!) so she wont be able to go on the trip. Hucles is retired (*tear*) so she wont be traveling either.

What's left? Replacements!

Ella masar will be traveling to the gorgeous Ausberg (or however you spell it) in place for Ang. Masar has yet to attain a cap with the National team, however she has had national team experience. Very exciting for Redstars fans i'm assuming.

And for my favorite, Kacey White of the Sky Blue FC will again be traveling with the US WNT to Germany. She curently has 17 caps with the national team (well i thought she had more, like around 30). She was also an alternate for the 2008 olympics and was crucial in the first BB vs SBFC game scoring the winning goal (can be seen in that recent WPS video about the inaugs season) and in the 4-4 tie vs WSH when she scored two of the four goals. I'm very happy to see her back on the national team :)

now if only meghan schur was called up...

I'm kinda scared that Rapinoe isn't going to be there because she is a freakin' beast, especially on her techinical side. her 1v1 is quite amazing ( i like to compare myself to her, though shes 10x more amazing than me... hehe).

this is goign to be an exciting game...

With Hucles gone the Breakers have lost all of their national team allocations

I agree with the lineup you have. I feel Solo will play the entire match.
I also hope Abby steps up her game as well.
I don't think A-Rod will be the one scoring in this match, but, I guess it's still a possibility.

Yeah but the U.S. has such a deep bench I think they'll do fine.

Line up I predict

Solo

Mitts, LePeilbet, Whitehill, Chalupny

O'Reilly, Boxx, Lloyd, White

Wambach, Rodriquez

Solid line-up I'd say. Midfield is a bit shaky though. We all saw how lackluster Lloyd was during the season so let's hope she steps up her game.

Speaking of the game against Germany...
Rampone: out.
Markgraf: out.
Tarpley: out.
Hucles: out.
Rapinoe: out.
Captain and veteran defenders, two veteran midfielders, and rapinoe, who I thought would take Tarps place are not going to play against Germany...freaking Germany!
I know it's just a friendly but the #1 team in the world cannot lose to Germany.
Are you nervous for this game?

oh yea... haha thats what i meant :)

At least they said Rapinoe will only be out for a few weeks. We don't need another Lindsay Tarpley injury.

You meant Hucles was the leading scorer for the U.S. in the Olympics right? Cause Cristiane had 5 goals so she lead the Olympics.
