Today I've been working on a new update for the Sol website. A new version of the boxscores that the league has developed. Boxscores will be featured on actual web pages now, to replace the PDF links.

Exciting stuff, I know.

But in setting up these pages... entering the opponents, dates and copying the game codes (the Inaugural Game is code: 875056 for example) I've been reflecting on each game that these represent. More than just numbers. They're also memories.

And I'm feeling a tinge of nostalgia.
And pride.

Recalling moments from each game. "Oh, that's when Bompastor did that double fist pump thing after she scored on us", or "yeah! that's when Han Duan got her first goal! She was soooo happy."

Remembering each moment, each milestone, each heartbreak, each rush of excitement. And I can't believe the season is coming to a close.

Looking back, I'm so proud of how well the Sol have played. And so proud to have been a part of it all. I feel that it has been some of the finest work of my career, and some of the most enjoyable. Quietly clapping in the press box (the press box is neutral, you know) and seeing things that were once just ideas tossed out in a weekly meeting become cherished memories for young fans that will last a lifetime (SolFest, Kick'n It With the Sol, etc.)

So here we are, a week and a half until the Championship. Game code: 917098, in case you're curious.

A week and a half until the season ends. Back where it all began. Kinda sad, but mostly excited.

Our lives are often filled with those "I can remember where I was when..." kinda moments. And copying these codes, preparing the game info... I find myself reflecting on an entire year of "remember when's".

And yeah, I'm looking forward to August 22nd, 2009.
