Cat Whitehill We keep coming back

One more win and we have the GOLD! I was so excited to watch our girls go out there, come from behind, and SCORE goals against Japan! We can now say it was a blessing that we lost to Norway in the first match because we already knew what it meant to be down early, but this time we knew how to come back. Ang is the hero! How awesome is she playing! I am so proud of her especially with how hard she has worked thi… Continue

Cat Whitehill Pumped for Japan, again

It was four hours long, but I can finally breathe a sigh of relief that we advanced onto the semis!! I was so happy to watch Tash score an awesome goal and I was even happy to watch her dance as a celebration! I think all of us needed something fun like that to happen during the game. It was a very brutal battle out there, just like every Canada-U.S. game, so when Tash showed us her moves after she scored, I th… Continue

Marcia McDermott Shanghai for the Olympic semi-finals

Last night I watched the China/Japan game in a packed stadium in Qinhaungdao. The crowd was the loudest yet. There were red and green bangers everywhere in the stadium and an enormous enthusiasm for using them. I will be bringing mine home as a souvenir. There were also quite a few flags being waved and I had to move about to watch the game in the midst of it all. Japan looked very dynamic in this game and moved t… Continue

Marcia McDermott China versus Japan

Tonight I get to see China versus Japan at the stadium in Qinhaungdao, but not before I go down to the western restaurant in my hotel where they have promised to put USA and Canada on the television. I am excited for the soccer tonight. This is the first USA game I will see, and the stadium should be full tonight for the match up between Japan and China. This is my third time to see China at these Olympics. I expect it will be even louder and mo… Continue

Leslie Osborne Watch out Kiwis

It was so fun to see the girls come out the way they did against in their last game against Japan! You could tell they had confidence, determination and smile on their faces. The girls are pumped and very relieved that they got the victory over Japan. Having a coach that believes in you and stay positive through challenging times can really make the difference. I thought that from the moment the game starte… Continue

Cat Whitehill The way we know how to play

Go USA!! I am so excited to sit here and write to you about how happy I was to watch my team beat Japan, 1-0, and put ourselves in a great position to advance. It was a much better overall performance from USA, so I am glad that the first game with all the nerves is over and we were able to really move forward. I just loved watching us create so many chances and in so many different ways. This is the way we kno… Continue
