In the aftermath of the dispersal draft I have become sober. The buzz of the dispersal draft has worn off and reality is setting in. What is that reality? The reality is the best brand in the WPS last season is no longer a franchise, the Los Angeles So

The WPS All-Star game has been moved to mid-season.
Where do you think it will be?
Do you like that it's in the middle of the season now?
I think the only disadvantage of having it in the middle of the season is that you only get to see half of the season to determine who get's to be an All-Star and who doesn't.
I'd think it be cool to have the All-Star game in Los Angeles for the Sol fans, just so they can have some WPS action without having

Dear Los Angeles Sol Fans,
I know for all Los Angeles Sol fans out there that this past week and Thursday's dispersal draft of the LA Sol players has been very difficult news to take. Let me tell you, it was equally as tough for us in the league office.
The decision to shut down the operations of the Los Angeles Sol was not an easy decision to make but it was a necessary decision as we began final preparations for the 2010 WPS Season without the proper ownership group in…

The LA players have set sail around the country. One of the surprises was seeing Marta taken by the Pride after the Athletica traded up to the first spot. An analysis of the teams selections.
St. Louis- While they selected four talented players, they were all midfielders. Another eyebrow raiser is the selection of two internationals when they only have 1 spot left. Miyama has a multi-year contract so she is guarenteed a spot which leaves Sorenson in the dust. They can keep her rights but unles…

In exchange, Saint Louis will receive Atlanta’s first round pick, number one overall, in the dispersal draft, and Atlanta’s second round pick in the 2011 WPS Draft.…

When an agreement with a potential buyer of the Sol franchise and the WPS fell through this past week the Sol franchise was discontinued. This left the players of Sol with out a team. The WPS has set the dispersal draft of the Sol players for Thursday, February 4th. The draft will have the eight franchises selecting players from the Sol roster over three rounds. The order of the three rounds will be as follows.
First Round:
Saint Louis Athletica
Philadelphia Independence

Hello everyone.. this is the first of MANY blog entries that I will be posting while interning for Women's Professional Soccer. I have had a great experience so far as an intern at WPS, just being here a little under a month....now, you might think that I have to say that because my "boss" can read this so its kind of like being friends with your mom on facebook... but I truly am enjoying the experience.
The best part about it so far is that the WPS offices is a fairly small organization, compa…

A cop out answer to the tough question of deciding how to spend your days.

This past week the WPS announced they are discontinuing the Los Angeles Sol franchise. This is sad news for Sol fans and for WPS fans a like. The news should not be taken lightly but should also not be seen as ominous by the WPS, its teams, or its fans. Instead it should be chalked up to a lesson learned.
What this means for the WPS:
In light of this the WPS will have a net growth for the 2010 season of plus one with the additions of the Beat and the Independence minus the Sol. Because…

I've seen many people say there should be a team in Seattle. They can't even keep a team that was around for ages there, what makes you think they wouldn't be the next Sol with a one and done year. Also people say what about around Cary, N.C. It's hard to gauge how that would turn out, yes you do have UNC right there but it's like there's already four teams within that small area above them. So having a team in N.C. right away would just make the league even more lopsided to the East.
I know th…

There aren't any weathly female athletes who would be interested in owning the LA Sol, at least for the next year? Think tennis players; think Sparks players; think Mia and Nomar's friends. What about Steve Nash encouraging some NBA people to get involved? This is just crazy - the regular season champions and Marta's team is no longer? I wish we knew more about how this all happened.

These new kits are boring and bland. The colors are flat and am I so glad I live in Boston as our unforms are least boring colors. They are totally uninspired for a league that is trying to create some " POP" we missed that chance Little girls / and big girls who are the biggest fan base will wear bright eye catching color not drab green, or flat not even shiney gold
