More about me
Hey everyone. My name is JR.
I am a person that enjoys watching a great game, and soaking a great atmosphere to go with it. Aside from soccer, football, baseball, basketball and hockey, I follow other sports like rugby, cricket and Aussie Rules.

I am a proud alumnus of Cal State Long Beach, after already earning a couple AA degrees at Long Beach City College. I maintain a couple of blogs, and I was a former webmaster for their rugby team. Currently, I'm working on a couple of master's degrees at Keller Graduate School of Management.

Recently some of my blog comments have been getting some reads and comments. Make sure to keep it clean, and don't go all caps. I recommend you treat the WPS Fan Corner (at least my part of it) as a place of conversation, not place to hold shouting contests.

And with that said...I hope you enjoy my profile here on the WPS Fan Corner.

Well isn't this a sorry sight.

From the Associated Press...

HANNOVER, Germany (AP) -- More than 45,000 fans gathered Sunday at the Hannover stadium for a memorial service for Germany goalkeeper Robert Enke, whose suicide has shaken the country.

''Robert Enke will never come back to this stadium, the place where he conquered our hearts,'' Hannover club president Martin Kind said at the beginning of the ceremony. ''But it wasn't only his success that made Robert Enke so popular, it was the man, his personality.''

The 32-year… Continue

Elizabeth Lambert: the original hard-woman of women's soccer?

Personally, it takes guts to be somebody you're not, or somebody you want to be. I like Elizabeth Lambert of the New Mexico Lobos women's soccer team for her courage to break the mold, albeit for the wrong reasons. You talk about someone who just knows how to throw someone down, punch in the back, and defend with a flying kick in spite of giving up a goal to a bunch of pure-hearted Mormons from BYU.

Sure it's taboo, and you will be obligated to apologize to save face, but the way she played foo… Continue

The offseason is in full swing: Falk and Henderson are traded.

Here's some news from Nick Green of 100% soccer: Allison Falk and Val Henderson are heading off to join the Indies.

Hmmm. Says GM manager Terry Foley on Henderson's acquisition...

"Although we’ve built an extraordinary team to this point, the goalkeeping position was an obvious… Continue

Thoughts on the 2009 WPS Expansion Draft

Well, I can't believe I'm writing again. It seems I can never get enough of the fun that is Women's Professional Soccer. With the offseason in full swing, the new crews from A-Town and Philly build their teams, starting with the 2009 Expansion Draft.

The House Rules...

•Existing teams may protect up to 10 players (but must leave a minimum of 6 unprotected)
•Expansion teams must each select one player from each existing team prior to selecting a second player from an existing team. This will al… Continue

Was never a suspension.

Another case of an American soccer body providing punishment based on the result of a challenge, not on the basis of the tackle itself. The fact that Daniela was injured doens't mean it was a bad tackle. Unfortunate, yes, but no means a suspension. It was a foul, nothing more. Daniela left her leg and was off balance. Wambach did nothing wrong.

Don't misunderstand, I don't care about the WPS at all, or Wambach. This is justa noddy call.

Los Angeles Sol Pre / Post Inaugural Match Day Party

Hey so I'm trying to see if anybody is interested in having a pre or post Inaugural Match Day Party in Los Angeles. We can maybe meet up at a sports bar or whatever and just hangout / meet fellow soccer fans. This won't be a viewing party because most of us will be going to the game. So we can meet Saturday or Sunday but obviously before the game which may be a bit hard since its at 3pm. Or we can just have a post party.

Please let me know if you guys have any suggestions on where you guys want to meet. It will be better at a place near the Home Depot Center. So far the list is:

1. Leyla
2. Carmela (flying in from Chicago so you know she is hardcore fan)
