Milbrett's Soccer Brand's Back!

For WPS teams that don't know, you do NOT let Tiffeny Carleen Milbrett get the ball on her left foot! Boston found out the hard way to concede a last minute goal.

Thanks for posting the highlight reel, WPS. Impressive goal tending by FC Gold Pride's Barnhart; the team can use more sure-footed defending. Kudos to the veterans as "shirts-off" Chastain sprung speedy Wilson with a timely pass in the 90th min in the sequence that led to Milbrett's goal.

The 15th min opening goal off Arakawa's near… Continue

Growth Spurred by All Manners of Input - WPS Sustenance

In the short time the WPS has opened its doors to the public via Fan Corner, I’ve personally experienced proactive responsiveness to fans’ input. Case in point; I couldn’t find the link to Fan Corner and made a case for the restoration of the earlier design. While WPS representation promptly responded to my observation with a clear explanation of the new design, action was taken to restore the design suggested – even at the possible risk of over-simplification. History Made in LA - Inaugural Match in the Books

Under the brilliant skies of Southern California, LA Sol’s inaugural game kicked off just after 3PM before an enthusiastic crowd of nearly 15,000. Mia Hamm delivered the game ball with her baby on the other arm.

I billed it as a showdown between LA’s Marta and Washington’s Abby Wambach. While I can’t with a straight face say the same of Wambach, Marta showed up all the way with a nearly 100% pass completion and passionate pursuit of excellence with the ball as demo’d on the second goal when she… Continue

WPS Homepage & Fan Corner

The original layout of the homepage which offered high visibility to Fan Corner was extremely reasonable for the important goal of buidling committed followership for the WPS. As of Friday, March 27, that layout has been discarded and it now takes extra work to (if lucky) find Fan Corner under XIIth Player (Twelveth Player).

In light of the demonstration of the success of mass online participation in the 2008 (US) presidential election, it would be wise for the designer(s) of this site to give… Continue

LA Sol Inaugural Match - SoccerAware Prep

Our soccer community in the San Gabriel Valley area of Southern California is looking forward with excitement to the inaugural match Sunday of Los Angeles Sol vs. Washington Freedom. The match promises to be a thriller and I've invited a 13-year-old soccer protegee of mine with her dad to see this game for, among other things, it's potential offensive fireworks.

Marta (LA Sol) and Abby Wambach (Washington Freedom) will be most often in opposing thirds of the field doing what they do best - torm… Continue
