Expansion Draft

So, for the expansion draft, each team is allowed to save 10 players. If it were up to you, which 10 would you save? I'd like to hear some people's ideas on the matter.

Permalink Reply by CB410 on August 31, 2009 at 12:15pm: Since I first heard about this I've thought it's an incredibly difficult decision as 10 players doesn't even mean a full starting lineup. That gripe being aired....here are some of my thoughts.

Clearly we need a goalkeeper. Under normal circumstances Branam would be an easy choice, my only concern is her medical status. But, being an optimist, I'll hope come March her situation has improved and therefore I'd certainly save Branam. She has certainly proved her worth and earned her spot on Sky Blue.

I love our regular defensive line and would not give a single member up, so the next four spots go to Dowling, Asante, Rampone and Schnur. That brings me to 5. Also a vital part of the team are the scorers and facilitators to the scorers and I'd have to give the next spots to O'Reilly, White, Kai and Rosanna.

That leaves me with only one spot to fill and the hardest decision possible, as we still have numerous good players on the roster. My last decision is a purely personal one and not completely based on performance this season. I'd have to give the last spot to Kerri Hanks. There's just something about her that I like and I think she's a strong, developing player that will add a lot to the team.

1. HAO
2. Kacey White
3. Rosana
4. Christie Rampone
5. Jenni Branam
6. Keely Dowling
7. Megan Schnur
8. Natasha Kai
9. Anita Asante
10. Not so sure about my last pick... Averbuch was pretty solid all season and really stepped up her game in the playoffs, so I think I'm most inclined to give the spot to her. But Hanks and Francielle were both pretty great also. Kelly Parker is another player I'd like to save, but there just aren't enough spots.; ▶ Reply to This

i kno anita asante is amazing, but i just feel like whenever she's there, they lose. like she wasn't there for the playoffs and they won... like.. idk. its hard. not saying shes bad SHES FREAKIN AMAZING but like idk... its hard.; ▶ Reply to This
