I feel like she just didn't fit in with the style of play that the Red Stars were trying to play and that's why she didn't do that well. Esp. being whenever there was WNT play she did fine.

I haven't heard anything on Parker or McCallum, I'll try to see if I can get some info. But I do know that Julie is playing for a team in Australia right now, weather she comes back for next season I don't know yet, try to find out.

at least the midfield is getting stronger with hao, averbuch, rosana if she's not up top, kacey white who is now getting wnt experience, francielle who was amazing in the playoffs and now carli lloyd i have the utmost confidence that she will hold a strong role in the midfield

I'm optimistic about Lloyd coming back to NJ. Her performance maybe wasn't stellar in Chicago, but one could argue that A-Rod's performance in Boston was sub-par. That doesn't mean I would automatically write her off. Hopefully the change of scenery will help bring her game back.

I will say this, I look forward to seeing how Sky Blue's defense shapes up. Rampone will be out for a large part of the season, and after the expansion draft, some depth (that was a bit lacking to begin with) had been lost beyond that. Very interested to see who is brought on in the coming months.

SBFC waived the rights to Parker, along with McCallum & Sitch. As far as I know, no other teams have picked any of them up, so I'd assume that technically speaking, they aren't currently part of the WPS. That could change at any time, but they probably don't know where to list them when players aren't affiliated with a team.

I hope that Lloyd becomes a functional part of SBFC but my main worry is that she'll get playing time just cause people know her name. I'd hate to see players like Francielle, who worked so hard to earn her playing time, get benched just so a bigger name, that may not be contributing to the team, can be out on the field.

btw I didn't realize we didn't have Parker anymore - where is she? I don't see her on the WPS list of players at all

I am def. having mixed feelings but I think we are going to have a great team with so many people returning - hopefully they will pull her into the Sky Blue team mode and all will be well!

Not very excited about Carli Lloyd. She didn't want to be on SBFC last season, but now that they're reiging champs she's interested? Who needs that kind of loyalty. Plus she basically sucked for the Redstars last season. One of the least productive players on their field. I'm disappointed we lost people like Kelly Parker for this.

"As a player, Miettinen capped nine times for the Finnish National Team as a goalkeeper before heading to Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, New Hampshire, where she converted to forward and was a three-year captain. She received All-America accolades on three occasions during her college career, compiling an NCAA record 309 points on 122 goals and 65 assists while leading the Ravens to three Division II National Championships. She also played seven seasons in the Finnish Premier League, where she helped HAK Helsinki to four national championships, four Finnish Cup championships and a UEFA Champions League semifinal.

After acquiring her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Psychology from Franklin Pierce College in 1999, Miettinen displayed her amazing versatility as a player by moving to defender and capped 17 more times for the Finnish National Team, becoming one of the only players in modern day soccer to play both on the field and in goal at the international level.
