Women's Professional Soccer

There are two midweek match-ups to start the week off.

The Boston Breakers and Washington Freedom play at Harvard Stadium tonight at 7pm ET, 4pm PT. This is the third time these two teams will meet this season. Boston came up with a 3-1 win at the first meeting and the teams tied 1-1 at the second meeting. The game will be aired on Comcast Sports Network.

Next up, Saint Louis Athletica take on the Los Angeles Sol at Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park (8pm ET, 5pm PT). This game is critical for Saint Louis as they look to secure a playoff spot. Athletica currently stands in fourth place with 14 points, while the Sol continue to dominate the first place spot with 28 points.

Three days later the Sol will play again, this time taking on the Chicago Red Stars at the Home Depot Center at 1pm ET, 10am PT. The Red Stars have not won a game since their 4-0 win over Boston on April 25. They currently sit in last place in the standings with 11 points.

In the FSC game of the week, Saint Louis Athletica and Sky Blue FC will play at Yurcak Field at 6pm ET, 3pm PT. The teams last met June 7 with Saint Louis coming out with the 1-0 win. The game will be streamed online.

I just got done watching the broadcast of Freedom/Breakers. I's hoping for a Freedom win, but Boston looked to be pretty tough, with alot of turnovers and hardcore defending. Good game nonetheless.

Kudos to SOL 2-1, who faced a barage of 24 shots by Athletica. Good job putting it all out there guys. This is what makes exciting games! a tie would have been nicer reward for Athletica's effort, but stats count. Oustanding were
Han Duan- her 1st goal - such speed and accuracy!
Marta - her 6th goal today! (Camille has 7) increased this week in LA
LeBlanc - her 8 saves of 24 shots today (defence needs to step up);
her 9th consecutive win; (maybe a record)
her 9th shutout this week (still #1) - with a GAA of under .33 when updated
This week will be interesting to see who emerges for recognition. It must be difficult to decide, but to me it is a no-brainer.
What do you think? SOL has game 3 in 2+ days, back in LA... they must be on the flight out of St Louis already!

they might be able to do it. look at the game when they played Sky Blue, it ended in a tie. While SBFC controlled pretty much the entire game.

I was at the Athletica/Sol game and the Sol looked dead at about the 65 minute mark. They didn't look like they had anything left. Marta saved them with the 2nd goal giving them a cushion and then they were just able to hang on. That and LeBlanc saved them, plus Saint Louis' inability to shoot straight. Even LeBlanc came close to losing the game fumbling a couple of shots and just able to grab the ball back before a St. Louis player could get there.

Los Angeles is definitely vulnerable. After the plane flight, they didn't have long to recover for the game against the Red Stars. The Sol will probably have Franko back, which should help. But Chicago will never have a better chance for an upset.

No upset here, Red Stars lose 4-0 to Sol.

Sorry about the wooops and a shutout! Kudos to Chicago for trying so hard. It was an exciting game for all fans.
No fumbling from LeBlanc means it was not slippery and wet like the Athletica/Sol game, right KC?
