Women's Professional Soccer

Hi Everyone,

We’re in the process of re-launching womensprosoccer.com today (Wed, April 16th, 2009). If the new site is not already coming up for you, it should be soon.

In re-launching, we sought to address a lot of the feedback we’ve received from you – a better video experience, more photos, scores featured more prominently, etc.

Please know that this is just Phase 1 of our web project. More cool features are in process such as calling out stats leaders more prominently, giving fans the ability to comment on and rate content, etc.

As you surf the new site, let us know your thoughts – all feedback is welcome.

Are there any plans to revamp the fan area? In particular, this discussion forum needs to be better organized to reflect topics appropriate to an active league. You need sections more like:

Matchups - talk about upcoming and recent games.
Players - talk about the players, transactions, potential draft picks, etc. Get rid of the drafts and allocations sections and put those discussions here.
Fan Experience - going to the games, watching the games on TV, road trips, etc.
Teams and Strategy - how the teams are being run and coached, talk about formations, styles, strategies, etc. not specific to a particular team.
National and International - talk about any teams or leagues other than WPS: WNT, W-League, World Cup, etc. Get rid of the Olympics section and put all of those discussions here.

And of course continue with the sections for each specific team, being sure to add in Atlanta and Philadelphia.

StarCityFan: 'archive' NOT "get rid of" (I hate it when good info online disappears b/c of lack of archiving. But then again, I have training and work experience in history & in libraries... :D

When I say "get rid of", I'm referring to the sections, not to their contents. The actual discussions should be moved to the appropriately renamed sections. For example, all the threads talking about the Olympics would be moved to my proposed "National and International" section.

I feel the same way you do - in fact, I still go back and look at archived posts on BigSoccer about WUSA matches and events.

Just wanted to let you know that a couple of your links are broken on the WPS Twitter List page. For example, the link to the team twitter for the Boston Breakers omits the second "b" and the link to the commissioner's page omits the final "r"

DID I COUNT CORRECTLY, 7 TEAMS, AMERICA, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF. THIS IS THE MOST POWERFUL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD FOR WOMENS SOCCER, YES OTHER COUNTRIES ARE GETTING BETTER, BUT REALLY? MY THOUGHTS ARE OLD SCHOOL/NEW SCHOOL. I RESPECT EVERY WOMAN PLAYING SOCCER, BUT WE REALLY NEED A CHANGE, WE NEED TO SEE MANY MORE KIDS OUT OF COLLEGE PLAYING, HUNGER KIDS JUST OUT OF COLLEGE, NOT SO MUCH THE NAMES WE HAVE BEEN HEARING OVER AND OVER, YES THE OLDER GIRLS ARE GREAT, BUT GIVE SOME NEW FACES A CHANCE, THE OTHER WOMAN CAN COACH NOW, DO OTHER THINGS. GO SCOUT THE COUNTRY FOR NEW YOUNG PLAYERS. WHY CAN WE NOT HAVE A TEAM IN EVERY CAPITAL OF THIS GREAT NATION, AND DONT SAY ITS A MONEY PROBLEM, CAUSE WE KNOW THERE IS PLENTY OF THAT.....I DONT REALLY CARE TO SEE MARTA PLAY, BUT I WOULD PAY TO SEE SOME YOUNG AMERICAN GIRL COMING THROUGH THE RANKS...REMEMBER BRAZIL WANTED TO KICK OUR BUT, EVERYTIME, NOW LETS PAY HER FOR COMING TO AMERICA....AND ALL THE EUROPEANS, GO HOME AND PLAY, I KNOW THAT SOUNDS HARSH, THIS IS WHY WE ARE SO GOOD......OUR MLS IS GETTING SO GOOD, I STAY HOME AND WATCH THAT ON TV NOW....ITS GREAT....SAME FACES ON DIFFERENT TEAMS, HOW ABOUT MAKING 1 GREAT SUPERSTAR TEAM FROM FOREIGN COUNTRIES TO PLAY US, THAT WOULD MAKE 8 TEAMS.....MAKE A TEAM OF ALL AMERICANS FROM COLLEGE. LET UNC PLAY A GAME.........WOULD KICK ALL YOUR BUTS......WE HAVE NO TEAM IN NORTH CAROLINA AREA, WHO DO I GO SEE.....? MORE PLAYERS JUST OUT OF COLLEGE.. GIVE THEM MORE CHANCES, THEY DONT HAVE TO BE THE BEST, LET THEM PLAY, I WROTE A NOTE THE OTHER DAY, I THINK I LOST IN THE SYSTEM SOMEHOW, ITS LATE, I HAVE A LOT OF DIFFERENT IDEAS, IF YOU DONT THINK IM TOO HARSH, LET ME KNOW. TO ALL YOU THOUSAND OF EXCELLENT PLAYERS, WANTING TO GO PRO, PULLING FOR YOU....THESE GIRLS WOULD PROBALY NOT BE AS EXPENSIVE TO PAY AS ALL THOSE BIG NAMES YOU KNOW. I GOTTA GO,,,,,,,,,,,OSHAUNESSEY

were coming off the falling of a previous league. we need to stabalize the league and gradually move up. it's already expanding to two cities. its up to us fans to keep the league going.

I love the website and the league. However, I hope the refereeing and the color comentary improves as the league progresses. The commentators are quick to point out mistakes by the players such as if they thought a player was leaning back on a snap shot at goal but when a goal like the one Walsh scored in the first half of the Chicago vs Sky Blue game today was disallowed for a terrible offside call they never even question the call or take a slow second look at it to see that Walsh was clearly behind the ball when it was passed in to her in front of the goal. The presenters and refs need to watch some coverage of the Barclays Premire league to see how well it can be done.

They looked at some of the offsides calls, just not very many. Of course, there were 21 total in the game, so it would have been hard to look at all of them.

I just discovered the addition of a Roster Report and am thrilled. Thank you for adding it. Fans (or maybe just us hard core ones) like knowing when players aren't available and so forth. Keep up the good work.
