We are headed into week 8 of season and you have seen the team play. Who is your favorite Red Stars player and why?? Megan Rapinoe? Cristiane? Give your opinion here!
To those who know me, this will come as NO shock but it IS my answer to the question!
I had the distinct pleasure and honor of meeting Lindsay TWICE last year here in here hometowns of Portage and Kalamazoo, MI and she could not have been more genuine or engaging! Whether it was talking to a small child about dreams and school or an adult about winning the Four Corners Trophey and HER dreams for the WPS, Lindsay was warm, friendly, gracious and most of all REAL! She is an OUTSTANDING ambassador for my hometown and she makes me proud to live here in Portage!
Her skills on the field need no explanation! She is the BEST outside shooter I've ever seen and NEVER ceases to amaze me with he ability to hit the net from 25 yards out or more! A fierce competitor with a GENUINE personality...what a RARE combination in this day of self-centered, overpaid and egocentric atheltes!
It was a pleasure to meet you Lindsay...BOTH times! Come back soon, your hometown will be wating!
Megan Rapino! She is so scrappy and works so hard to get to each ball, you can tell she gives her all each time she is on the field. It is so fun watching her play.
Not only is she my adopted player :) but she is amazing on and off the field!
As a keeper I have great respect for anyone who can play infront of a keeper and listen to us bark orders all game! It takes an amzing athlete to lead her defensive line! To play with the talent she holds is unbelievable! She has def. earned her spot on the field!
Meeting her off the field, she is a great role model! She is filled with advice and stories of trial and error! Not to mention she has a great personalitly and was awesome with my sisters and family! It wasnt weird or anything she was very open with us and when she found out I adopted her she completly opened up!
She is short but plays big. She can serve a good ball in from the outside. She is aggressive without playing dirty. And she puts a strong strike on the ball.
Cristiane. Nobody else in the world is able to dribble through 5 German defenders and then score a goal against the best keeper in the world, especially in a serious match like the Olympic semifinal. Not even her partner on the Brazilian National Team, Marta.
Nobody else in the world has scored a hat trick in an Olympic game in less than 15 minutes.
Can't wait till she gets her rhythm back from the injuries and starts scoring goals in WPS!
Honorable mentions - Megan Rapinoe and Karen Carney. Honestly these 2 young ladies will be very big superstars in the next few years. Both have a knack for finding the net. Megan Rapinoe has only played in 9 USWNT matches, and yet she's scored 4 goals. AND with her being a midfielder, thats even more amazing.
I like Karen Carney. She's tenacious, fast and sends in great crosses. By the way I'm an American fan of the English ladies so I may be a little biased.
My honorable mentions would be Megan Rapione and of course Christiane who really was awesome in the Olympics.
Brittany Klein is my family's favorite player and the reason we follow the Red Stars in the first place. We watched Brittany shine at Santa Clara and she was (and still is) a tremendous role model for my daughters. We live about 10 minutes from Santa Clara University and attend Gold Pride games but when the Red Stars come to town we'll be wearing Red Star gear and cheering for Brittany and the Red Stars.
She always works hard and never gives up. She's not afraid to challenge another player in order to get the ball. Her work ethic is great and she makes whatever she can of every opportunity. Note: She came into the Red stars vs. Sol game and in just a few minutes fought to win a ball from two defenders and slipped a great ball to Cristiane who scored.
Carli Lloyd, no doubt. Everything about the way she plays is amazing. Her ball control, her ability to keep the ball under pressure, ammmmazing strength in her shot, all her free kicks are a goalie's worst nightmare, and her passion during the game is great, I could go on. But, yes for sure Carli Lloyd is my favorite player, she's the reason I follow Chicago in the first place! =]
I am honestly totally crushing on the play of so many of the players, but Brittany Klein currently has my heart. As my boyfriend says, "she is the Logan Pause (Chicago Fire central midfielder) of the Red Stars," and I couldn't agree more. She might not be one of the fancy noticeable play makers, but the girl is all over the place, winning every 50/50 ball on the pitch. She's has mad hustle!
