After their third coaching change of the year, Sky Blue FC pulled out a 2-0 win over FC Gold Pride in the final week of the regular season. Tied 0-0 at halftime, Sky Blue scored early in the second half off a header from Rosana. Natasha Kai followed it up in the 61st minute. The win bumped Sky Blue FC into a tie for third place with Washington Freedom at 26 points.

In the other midweek matchup, Saint Louis Athletica defeated the Chicago Red Stars 2-0, with both goals coming from Christie Welsh. This game did not hold any playoff implications as the Athletica already secured second place and the Red Stars had been eliminated from contention.

The final two playoff spots will be determined this weekend.

On Saturday, Aug. 8, the two third place teams, Washington Freedom and Sky Blue FC, will battle it out at 7pm ET, 4pm PT. The game can be followed on Match Traker and broadcast.

In the FSC game of the week, the Boston Breakers face a must-win game against the regular season champs, Los Angeles Sol. The game will be aired at 6pm ET, 3pm PT.

In the final game of the regular season, the Athletica take on FC Gold Pride at 8pm ET, 5pm PT.

the sky blue fans were behind us and we could really hear them cheering haha. it was awesome. love the drummers too. during the warm-ups i caught TK dancing to the beat hahaha. i had a new carolina blue backpack w/ me and i figured hey let me ask the sky blue players to sign it. so they did and now i can never use the backpack again haha. i only got to use it for a few hours. it has to be preserved now lol. and HAO is just one of the nicest players i've ever talked to. rylie rampone was so cute running around the field wearing christie's jersey.

I have to be pleased by the Sol figuring things out for once. They got the job done.

I believe there were only 2 coaching CHANGES for SBFC this year. Not that it makes a difference with their unprofessional front office.
