Sinclair & Wambach are at goal 99, looking for 100.
LeBlanc is at 29 clean sheets, looking for 30.
Whose dream do you think will come true?

Can't see LeBlanc shutting down the US, so I think she's out-of-luck. I think Sinclair and Wambach both have a good chance at reaching the century mark, though Wambach more than Sinclair.

I say U.S. getting the win, although Canada is a tough team to beat.
And maybe Wambach getting 100, but I have a feeling she might not.

I tuned into the game about 5 minutes after the opening kick. The score was already 1-0 in favor of the US. I knew at that point, the Canadians would be trounced, and they were.

Yes, they were trounced.
As the announcer said, while ALL the USA bench are part of the WPS; only 7 of the Canadians are. 6 are not even on a team. We have a NEW coach, with NEW style which we are learning, and lots of new players.
I am not making excuses, just repeating the very obvious.
Your team won the Olympics. We are #11 and USA is # 1. This was our first Olympic achievement for us and we were able to go into overtime with USA before USA got an off-side goal. (So it is written)
The results were only surprising in that NONE of the three stars' dream came through, although all are capable, which was the question you were asked! You were supposed to have given an opinion BEFORE the game started, not during. It was just to generate discussion, not to have you pug your nose.
We just have to learn from this and earn your respect, I guess. No problem.

Who's pugging their nose? I proudly support our soccer ladies from the US, but I don't snub my nose at other teams because it's disrespectful. I just stated that I knew the US would dominate once I saw that they were ahead by a goal just 5 minutes into the game (even with Leblanc in goal). It wasn't hard to see that Canada was being outplayed and out-hussled. I was hoping for a good game with back and forth opportunities, but the Americans practically owned the ball in each half.

OK. I apologize for saying you pugged your nose. That too was emotive. The the assumption I made was from your vision that because a goal was scored in the first few minutes, may be the reason I responded that way. There are countless games that have been lost despite an ever bigger lead. You said you "knew", not even you "feel" that they would dominate. That too was emotive too.
So, I guess we are on the same page with enjoying a good game whenever there is balance. I can only hope that soon another game will look like the last one seen between these two teams in Beijing. (Japan would have been a better game for our initial practice with new formations or skills.) Unfortunately, we will have game 2 and 3 in July in the USA... There is a subconscious fear. That's another opportunity for us to be embarassed, since there is no chance for our team to even to plays together. Will there be a miracle? We can only hope ... or the 3rd game better not be televised, for the sake of the #11 team in the world and their morale.
I also hope that the WPS games will reinforce confidence with the few Canadian girls as they reunite with their trouncers. We will observe if LeBlanc will shrivel or shine. I think she will shine as #23.

not leBlanc's dream, thats for sure. i watched that game today and it was very entertaining to me although the scoreline showed a really one sided game. the US did very well today, although i bielive that it was hard for them to get used to playing with each other. but the goals were pretty good as well, my favorite being the 1st goal by Shannon Boxx. it was and incredible strike and a wonderful goal.

It seems no one is surprised that Canada gave up only ONE goal - in the 79th minute! It was what we all hoped for but it was a pleasant surprise to have gained that result in the second game. I look forward to the third one on Wednesday (tomorrow) in SC. Any opinions?
I was really pleased that the one goal scored was Abby's. She deserves to have a goal at home... with her parents and hometown there to cheer her. It would have been a wasted moment if she had made her 100 in Toronto!

The commentators, at least, pointed out that Canada did really well under their new system, and I'd have to agree with them. The US got far fewer chances than the last match.

What's this new system Canada has? I'm used to watching them play the long ball to Sinclair and then hope for the best - mind you, I didn't see the last game against the US. I'll try to watch the next game on Wednesday. What time is the kick off?

Never mind, I see the game kicks off at 8pm EST, looks like it'll be a late night for me since I'm 5hrs behind, living in London. Might be worth staying up for though, since I am a Canadian citizen and Canada only seem to play exhibition games against US more than anyone.

I'll be interested to see this "new system" they've been talking about.
