What do you think the Bay Area should name their team?

Bay Area has officially been added to the WPS roster for an April 2009 launch. But they are nameless...

Let's help.

San Jose FC :)

Okay, while that's not likely, it had better not be anywhere near as corny as the name "CyberRays". It was a great team but honestly that name just stank to high heaven. Whatever it is, I hope it's either traditional or aggressive, but the last thing WPS needs is teams with names that are chosen by some well-meaning but misguided marketer to be cute.

oh my gosh that is such a good question! I don't know but maybe if there are a bunch of good ideas people could vote for it online. That would be cool

I saw another suggested name of "Bay Area Storm" it good as well.

Nah, we don't get enough storms in the Bay Area for it to make much sense. It should be something that ties in with the region. San Jose Blue Coats maybe in deference to the NeSmith's fortune maker.

Bay Area Aftershock sounds very cool. It's aggressive, exciting, and, as a bonus, isn't horribly cheesy. The only problem i see with it is kinda related to marketability and the fact that it sounds... secondary. By that i mean it sounds almost like it could be an afterthought. Aftershocks come after an earthquake. Who wants a team that comes after something powerful when it could come in first instead?

I'm probably not making any sense right now. My point is that even though i like it, it's not perfect (then again, what is?).

Another option is to choose something that sounds a little more neutral, like "Wind" or "Rush". Though they're not as geographically fitting, i suppose...

No I get your point on it. Aftershock's are smaller than Earthquakes and do come after. So from that perspective it doesn't make much sense. I suspect they'll go with something that's not geologically related just to differentiate from the Quakes. Perhaps they'll go with something completely off the wall like NJ did and be the Loma Prieta SC or somthing like that.
