I'm just curious...did Briana Scurry retire from soccer? If not why is she not on here instead of Tina Ellertson or another who really hasnt played for the WNT in a while?

Apparently nobody considered her one of the top 21 players in the WNT pool. I'd expect that she'd be picked up by somebody, just in one of the later drafts.

I probably would not have taken her out of the top 21 personally because she is still very good...older, but good. Ellertson is in the top 21 though haha she is fast but not top 21 in my opinion

Briana Scurry didn't retire, she just wasn't one of the top 21 allocated. I think teams are looking to pick up goal keepers in the next round of drafting. As for Tina Ellertson, she's very versatile. She didn't play this year because she had her second child, but I wouldn't underestimate her talent. She's one of the fastest US players. You just haven't had much of a chance to see her b/c Greg Ryan didn't use her very much.

Actually, Briana Scurry voluntarily withdraw her name from the allocation. She would still be eligible for the WPS draft, if she wishes.

And Alexandra Krieger signed a new contract (till 2010) for German club 1.FFC Frankfurt. Great to see her for at least another year here in Germany.

I think a lot of people are gonna be happy about the fact that Abby will play for Washington Freedom again. Including myself!

Btw, I guess Ali Krieger will leave Frankfurt at the end of the german season? That's a shame.

Is is true that there is going to be players at the Great Lakes Soccer Challenge on the Naperville Polo Fields?!

I am very excited about O'reilly, Rampone and Kai even if it means we will be lower in the draft for the international players. Rampone provides amazing defense, O'Reilly has a non-stop motor, and Kai provides that flash. Bring on the international draft!

I wonder if Scurry is holding out to play for Atlanta next year?

Looks like Kate Markgraf is out for the first WPS season due to pregnancy according to one of the national team websites. I think it is safe to say they may be focused on defense early in the draft.

Too bad there isn't a pill or something the athletes could take to prevent those nagging pregnancy injuries that keep sidelining them. I'm no doctor, but it seems to me that it disproportionately affects our female athletes.
