Women's Professional Soccer

So seriously, anybody know if/how allocation will be an option for Atlanta/Philadelphia?

No allocation from the WNT pool, regular allocation (like the rest of the franchises) with 1 year loans to other teams, or some special allocation next year for newcomers to the league?

Loans are very common in Men's soccer, but I don't know if that would fly in a US-based, new women's league. Maybe too confusing for the casual soccer fan.

Philly did not get the best of the allocation for the WUSA (Beene and Fair) so we can sit this out and get players that fit the team, not built around a NT player

Though I would not mind having Tarpley or Whitehill... doubt they would trade any NT players... Just don't call the Championship trophy the Founders cup and all else is good

Philly was allocated Lorrie Fair and Saskia Webber (not Lakeyshia Beene, who was drafted by Bay Area/San Jose)...but yes, I echo your sentiments.

Mandy Clemens was also an allocated player, though she wasn't officially a Founder, just there to fill out the 24 allocated players (3 to a team).

I think they haven't figured this part out yet but I suppose there might be a re-allocation after the first season ends (something similar to the MLS expansion draft) to keep parity when Atlanta/Philly enter the league.

The sense I get from Tonya's interviews is when this league is stable and thriving, it will be treated exactly like any other men's league in the world so I can totally see loans with Australian, Swedish, German, English, etc etc etc teams in the future.

Sorry, It was quite a while back and only Lorrie was there in 2003... I wished it had been Beene, Forgot about Clemens completely

Hello... Don't Philly have Kelly Smith & Something Pecheon (Forgot her first name, N sorry if I spell her last name wrong, but I know it's something Pecheon) and then this one Chech Republic gal. And they do fine, still a revival to Washington Freedom. (how I wish, during those WUSA days, if Kelly Smith were to play for Washington Freedom).

When? right now the WPS Organization should already, have alots of International players (superstars or any good potenenial players) in WPS allocation to the teams in WPS League.

I am not exactly sure what the MLS does for expansion drafts, but this is the best way I see to do an expansion draft without seriously disrupting the established teams. 1.) Allow the established franchises to have a list of 7 untouchable players. 2.) Allow the expansion teams 5 picks a peice. 3.) After a player is picked from an established team the team who lost the player can add another one of their players on to the untouchable list. 4.) Once a team loses 2 players they can add 2 players to the untouchable list going forward. 5.)Allow the expansion teams a seperate international draft/free agency period to sign free agent internationals. 6.) In the college/ameuter draft allow the expansion franchises 2 picks in the 1st, 3rd and 5th rounds. 7.) The rest is up to them to fend for themselves they are expansion franchises after all.

Marinette Pinchon is closer to the name you are looking for. One of my favorite Charge players.

Actually, her last name was Pichon, and she was one of the most dynamic strikers in the league, winning the league MVP honors in 2002. Definitely a fan favorite. She retired from international play after France lost to England in the WWC qualifiers in 2006. I believe she retired from club play also when her season finished up in '07. I wonder if any of the teams can talk her out of retirement? She would be 33 when the season begins. If she's even half the player she was back in the WUSA, she's still be worth the gamble, I think.

Hey, I said closer! :) Fan fav indeed. Moore, Mitts and Pichon were golden for my daughter and I back then.

Worth the gamble for the couple years she has left. She could teach the younguns a thing or two. Can you picture her up top with Amy Rodriguez?

It sucks we have to sit on the sidelines til 2010.
