Chicago Red Stars

Tell Marcia and Emma who you want to see in a Red Stars jersey!

During the week of Sept. 15, League Owners will meet to review and consider both the U.S. WNT Players and WPS teams’ preferences and then conduct the allocation of the U.S. WNT Players. Each WPS team will be allocated three players from U.S. Women’s National Team / U.S. WNT Player Pool. Go here for more information.

The Red Stars pride ourselves on being the "community's team," as evidenced by our Name the Team competition. Marcia and Emma want to know, who would you like to see playing in a Red Stars jersey!?!

I want to draft Abby Wambach weather she is ready or not.

Build from the back! Bring in Lori Chalupny.

(For local flavor, I'd also bring in GK Kristen Eggert, Wheaton grad, for a look as a back up keeper.)

oh them's fightin' words =-)
if she doesn't go to STL, I'll be shocked, she's gotten too much media attention in the past two years for local newspapers and TV stations

Lori seems like a lock for St. Louis. Chicago doesn't have any obvious local players. There are a few midwesterners on the national team (Leslie, Lindsay, Kate and Heather), but none of them are from Chicago - though Leslie played with the Eclipse Select while in high school.

Lindsay Tarpley, Kelly Smith, Christiane, Heather Mitts, Leslie Osborne, Kate Margraff, Kristin Luckenbill, Amy Lepielbet, Jen Buczkowski and if she's not too old to play, Debbie Keller.

Good choices, but word is that Lori wants to go to St. Louis (where she grew up) and Angela wants to go to Boston (where she currently lives).

I believe building a new team begins with a goalkeeper, and the top goalkeeper in the world is Hope Solo. Hopefully Chicago is one of the cities Hope Solo has listed in her preferences.

The Chicagoland area offers so many advantages to prospective players. The city of big shoulders is a Gotham on the lake with a big city media market and fanatic soccer fans, while at the same time, no more than an hour down I-55, there is small town midwestern country life, with family farms and beautiful hiking and recreational fun. Hopefully, whoever comes to the Chicago Redstars will enjoy living and playing in the uniqueness Illinois offers.

Shannon Boxx! I also agree with getting Hope Solo (but who doesn't? ;b)

When bringing in international players, Birgit Prinz!! (yes, I'm getting ahead of everything :D)

Hi Emma. There are two players i will like to bring to your attention. Effioawan Ekpo and Sarah Michaels both play for the Nigerian WNT and were at the Olympics. If you need the best holding midfielder in the world, Ekpo is the name. She wore the number 2 shirt for Nigeria.

She is the unsung hero of the Nigerian team. I have watched all her games at the World Cup and Olympics over and over again and the best description for her is Michael Essien of Chelsea or Fernando Redondo of Argentina in the '80's. She can play in lateral defence or in her favorite position as a defensive midfielder. She can shoot and is a great passer of the ball.

Sarah Michaels is an up and coming forward with pace, skills and the temperament of a world class forward. I know they will be a good addition to your team or any out there.

I think Emma should use her Arsenal connections...there are so many world class players at that club!
Gemma Davison is looking really sharp this season and works well with Karen Carney. Also Katie Chapman, a great midfielder!

How about Hanna Lunjberg?

Is Tobin Heath available for the general draft? She'd be a good addition.
