Wow, this is quite the opening match! And neither team will find any relief in their later games in this 'group of death'. I don't think we'll see the best of either team in this opener, first game jitters, but I'll be watching... what a matchup! I think Germany will get them here and if they meet later, watch out...

I'm wondering how Brazil will look with Marta, Cristiane and Daniela back in the fold for the first time in a while. Will they have their A-game in their opening game or will it take them a game or two to jell with the rest of their teammates?

Just an update for those of you who can't find the NBC Olympic Soccer Channel, the Brazil-Germany game will be streamed online at NBCOlympics.com at 5am EST/2am PST. Who's getting up for it? I will be.

I was wondering where the Olympic Soccer Channel is as well?

Anywho, I am going to put my best effort into getting up at 4am so I can watch this game because it should be GOOD. And then of course I will be on my way to the Red Stars viewing party at The Globe to cheer on the USA!

oh sweet olympic time differences...

I view both Brazil and Germany as rivals to USA. So I won't be rooting for anyone. Really doesn't matter who wins but they've got great talent on both sides and it will be an awesome match. Although the world cup final was a dud with these two teams playing each other. Hopefully, Brazil will crank it up to avenge that loss and we will be thoroughly entertained.

I think a key player will be Brazilian captain Tania. She's the heart of the Brazilian defensive line, and if she plays and organizes everyone around her well, Brazil will be tough to beat. On the other hand, if she and the defense are not having a good game ... then, sit tight, it's going to get interesting--and quick, against a strong German attack.

Unlike Alyse, 4am seems very early to me, but definitely worth getting up at 5ish to watch the second half. I imagine the excitement of the game will be enough to keep me awake at that hour. I'm also hoping that the Globe serves french toast because I am going to need it to keep me going tomorrow.

I'll support Germany of course. Players to watch out for are Christiane and Marta. Both good forwards who shouldn't get too much time and space. Let's hope our defense has a good day cause we were very lucky at the World Cup and that won't happen again I think.
